Don’t you just love vintage? Nowadays, vintage jewelry has reached a point where many people seem to make a point of having something vintage to go with their favorite outfits. It could either be a vintage jacket, vintage pair of boots or vintage jewelry of gold or silver. One of the most popular vintage jewelry items being bought and sold today are vintage bracelets.

As time goes by, the value of vintage jewelry goes up, and this goes double for jewelry made from something as valuable as silver. For example, vintage jewelry bracelets are much more expensive now as compared to the time when they were originally purchased (taking inflation into account, of course).

Another example of this phenomenon could be charm bracelets, which are very popular for young and old alike. A vintage charm bracelet would probably cost more than a signature charm bracelet today in most cases. It is possible to find some wonderful old vintage jewelry for sale if you know the right places to look before spending your money. This could mean a garage sale or a person who wants to get rid of such things without even knowing the real value of vintage items in today’s collectibles market.

Antique sterling silver bracelets are considered precious finds because of the quality of craftsmanship and design for this type of vintage jewelry. There are specialty stores that offer antique silver bracelets but the price is often quite expensive. This is simply because the shop owner has to make back whatever money they spent for the jewelry and then still has to build in some reasonable profit to make the transaction worth their while.

Many rare and very exquisite designs are found online but you have to make sure that you are buying the real thing before making your purchase. If you decide to explore websites such as eBay, make sure that there are plenty of pictures accompanying the item as well as a detailed description. Also be sure to check out the seller’s feedback ratings. If you have any doubt whatsoever about the integrity of the seller you are dealing with, simply walk away from the transaction and keep looking.

Perhaps one of the reasons why people love vintage jewelry so much and particularly vintage silver jewelry, is that such pieces are considered “timeless”. This means that the design is not a fad and does not change from season to season. This could also be considered the little black dress of jewelry. It is a classic and really worth keeping once you have added it to your collection.

I recently purchased a vintage bracelet that I love, but that unfortunately irritates my skin a bit. My skin gets little abrasions, and feels rough to the touch. I believe that the bracelet is mainly made of brass, but it is possible that it is made of other materials as well. I have other vintage necklaces that I have no problem wearing. Is this an allergy to brass specifically? Is the bracelet dirty in some way? Any guidance would be great, thanks!

Here is a photo of what the bracelet looks like. http://ny-image1.etsy.com/il_fullxfull.91733541.jpg

I know it’s poaching is illegal and anyone using ivory nowadays is illegal, but what happened to all the vintage stuff? Is it in a museum or something or still up for sale?

Hey :)

I want to expand my accessories, but I HATE buying crap from places in the mall – it costs a ton and falls apart in a week! Does anyone know of any good places to find CHEAP vintage/antique/hippy/bohemian/costume etc. style jewelry? You know, the old stuff that has been around for a while and actually PROVED that it won’t break!!

My style is a bit bohemian, yet with a more fitted/flattering type of direction… bright red hair, pale skin, blue eyes…. etc. Just wondering if any one knows of any great places to find cheap, old but well-made jewelry.

Thanks!

I have a lot of vintage jewelry that I am trying to identify. Though I am earning a lot in the process, one pair has me stumped. I have a pair of earrings whose backers are engraved with the letter "S." What maker would do this? I have several pair of Avon earrings that have similar backers which are instead engraved with "AVON." Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

having searched many websites, I cannot find this particular type of pin. Its more like an art form in that it appears carved; possibly out of a bone or composite type material. There are no gems or jewels, just cute images or likenesses ( a small Scottie dog for example) and 2 of these have JAPAN stamped on the back. Anyone have a clue? TY TY TY !!

I’m 15, 5 ft 10 and 107 lbs. I love cardigans, skinny jeans, long flowy tank tops, vintage looking jewelry, edgy skirts, and chunky knit sweaters. I’d call it preppy with small hints of edgy and vintage accents.
Here is what I usually wear:
